Santa Clarita, a Family-Friendly Reunion Location

The City of Santa Clarita is a family-friendly reunion location.  Not only is it home to some famous theme parks like Six Flags at Magic Mountain, Hurricane Harbor and Mountasia Family Fun Center, it  also has many family-friendly venues and activities for all ages which would certainly encourage a good turnout for any family reunion.

Every third Thursday of the month (March-October) the downtown Main Street transforms into a themed block party from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. With live music, food trucks, street performers and themed activities.

Points of Interest

The nearby and very recognizable Vasquez Rocks, Vasquez Rocks Formations has been used in many western films.  It has an interesting history of outlaws and Indian tribes among many other exhibits and excursions, including:

  • an equestrian staging area and trails (but bring your own horse – no rentals available)
  • an historic ranger’s house
  • hiking trails
  • picnic areas
  • group camping area (organized groups only)
  • nature center

The fascinating William S. Hart Museum, named after the famed Western actor and producer, contains many collections including many western statuary as the Remingtons, Russells and De Jongs along with mementos from early Hollywood and Indian artifacts. www.hartmuseum.org.

Additional Recreation Area Nearby

Nearby Lake Castaic has special event areas that can accommodate anywhere from 150 to 500 people at the large locations, and 50 to 75 people in the small locations. There are 4 large areas and 7 small picnic areas available for families or small groups. Most sites contain shade providing awnings & trees, grass, picnic tables and barbes.  Also, most sites are parking lot accessible, as well as a short distance from the shoreline of the West Side Lagoon.

Accommodations

Many hotels are available in the City with reasonable rates and meeting room facilities.  There are free trolley rides from most hotels to the Six Flags Theme Park at Magic Mountain.   Check the Santa Clarita Tourism Office and they can help in finding the perfect venue for any size reunion.  Restaurants from inexpensive to fine dining are nearby.  www.VisitSantaClarita.com

Getting There

Via plane, train or car, there are many options available to get to Santa Clarita.  Only 20 minutes from the Burbank Airport with shuttles available from Burbank and LAX airports.  There are three Metro Link Stations within close approximation to Santa Clarita.
